A floral sculpture without flowers, for a strong symbolic decoration: "The Plank Tree"

DécoFlorale Design with contemporary sculpture
Floral sculpture in a contemporary design environment

🧠 Artistic concept

Arson imagines a “square tree,” whose branches are already planks—a metaphor for the instrumentalization of nature by modern man:

This work denounces:

• The productivist logic which transforms living things into raw material

• Loss of biodiversity and spirituality linked to nature

• Human megalomania, which claims to shape nature in its image

The Plank Tree – A Floral Sculpture Without Flowers

How does a work without petals or leaves become the most powerful echo of the keyword “floral”?

In the world of contemporary sculpture, the word "floral" dominates searches. It evokes beauty, nature, and gentleness. And yet, Arson's "Planked Tree," in its 60 cm version, has neither leaves, nor flowers, nor fruit. It's a square tree, with branches already transformed into planks. A provocation? Yes. But above all, a reflection on what we do with the living.

🌸 A floral work… by absence

• Floral: not by ornament, but by assumed lack. The work questions: what remains of nature when it is reduced to its economic function?

• Nature: the tree becomes a symbol of domesticated, calibrated, profitable nature.

• Emotion: This piece evokes a mixture of loneliness, nostalgia, and gentle anger.

• Color: its raw steel or ivory version is part of a sober, but powerful palette — ideal for a contemporary interior.

• Freedom: or rather its negation. The tree no longer grows, it is frozen, useful, ready for use.

🧠 Why this sculpture speaks to our times

• She criticizes the standardization of living things, in a world where even trees must be “practical”.

• It honors civilizations that respect nature, often destroyed by industrial logic.

• It invites reflection, in an accessible format (60 cm), perfect for a strong symbolic decoration in an office, a gallery or a living room.
