Biography
Arson
French sculptor

His story
A descendant of an illustrious family from Nice, Arson is a transgressive libertarian.
Born in Paris in 1953, he entered art school at the age of 16. Initially interested in painting , he turned to architecture, which he eventually abandoned, returning to painting. He then worked with clay, learning pottery, modeling, sculpture, and molding. He returned to his first love, displaying a strong and original personal style.
For him, woman is a fantasized ideal, and one might find in Arson a fetishistic taste for Her. But he invites us to look beyond, towards his unique creations, which are so many stories, so many dreams, where you can draw the poetry of his work, find an original invention, to escape a dreamless world, too predetermined, too consensual, which will open up your imagination.

“Sculpting is not a trivial act. It is a tension between matter and spirit, an attempt to awaken consciences and what they refuse to hear.” – Arson

Course
He opened his first sculpture workshop in 1976 in Gordes, Provence, then in southwestern France in Montcuq in the Lot.
An admirer of Duchamp and Magritte, Arson defines himself as a descendant of Dadaism, in its transgressive and provocative aspects.
To paraphrase Magritte, Arson, speaking of his " Esculmau ", is wont to say, "This is not an ice cream, nor an ass, it's an " Esculmau "...
A worthy heir to his predecessors, Arson is also a poet, somewhat of an anarchist, in love with Woman, her forms, her femininity, her creativity. The artist invites us into his extraordinary, excessive, and provocative works.
Like his surrealist friends, he reflected on women, but also on today's society and the taboos that still confine it.
Art brut, decorative art, Arson's sculptures evolve according to the material he passionately shapes and the very personal view he casts on our postmodern world in upheaval.
"Anarchy is the freedom of men who deserve it," he said.
Léo Ferré, for his part, stated "your style is your ass", Arson seems to agree.
Form often allows content to surface. This is especially true in Arson's creations. JFG
